To forestall any future terrorist attacks in the West Africa sub-region, Chairman of the ECOWAS Parliament’s Committee on political Affairs, Peace, Security and African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Edwin Melvin Snowe Junior believes if butter and bread issues are made to take center stage things would improve.
According to him there is the need to look at economic empowerment especially with those involved in the terrorist act, because its either they are disgruntled or destitute as they have their own personal problems.
“We have to look at the whole governance structure of our Community; how do we address the bread and butter issues of our Community, the educational, healthcare and basic needs in our community in order to reduce the insecurity for our people to live in peace and security”, he said in an interview.
He further pointed out that the issue of terrorist attack was brought on the front burner when the Parliament met in Abuja for its 2022 First Ordinary Session.
